HPPs
The Daugava hydropower plants are like three pillars supporting energy generation in Latvia. They supply us all with environmentally friendly energy, skilfully harnessing the natural power of river waters and the cutting-edge technologies.
Did you know? The powerful waters of the Daugava drive the Pļaviņas, Ķegums and Riga hydropower plants, which together made almost 60% of all electricity generated in Latvia last year. This means that more than half of locally generated energy is greener than green!
CHPPs
How environmentally friendly is the energy produced by CHPPs? Very much so! Along with electricity generation, heat is also generated (so-called cogeneration), thus saving resources and warming not only the hearts of Latvia’s residents, but their homes as well!
Did you know? The electrical capacity of the TEC-1 and TEC-2 cogeneration plants is so great that it could simultaneously power more than one hundred million LED bulbs and illuminate each Latvian city!
