We implement Elektrum corporate social responsibility initiatives in three main areas
Our directions are Education and Science, Energy Heritage and Environmental Sustainability and Biodiversity.
We believe that true value comes from caring not only about today, but about the future as well. So we proudly implement initiatives strengthening society, promoting the development of knowledge, preserving energy heritage and supporting environment protection. With every project, we create positive change for people, nature and future generations.
Education and Science
We promote children's and young people's interest in STEM fields, strengthen energy literacy, and inspire the next generation of professionals through educational initiatives. As part of these efforts, we deliver the FIZMIX online learning platform, the FIZMIX Physics Competition, the Elektrum Physics Festival, Elektrum STEAM Day, the Physics Classroom Support Programme, as well as educational lessons and interactive activities at the Elektrum Energy Centre.
FIZMIX.lv portal
FIZMIX.lv is an educational portal for pupils, parents and teachers that helps users explore physics and the exact sciences in an engaging and easy-to-understand way. The portal offers experiments, learning materials, tasks and practical examples that spark curiosity and inspire pupils to choose future professions in STEM fields. Teachers also have access to a dedicated section with learning materials and tasks.

Elektrum Physics Festival
Elektrum Physics Festival is an exciting event for the whole family that inspires people to explore the world of STEM through experiments, educational activities and practical experience. The semi-final and final of the FIZMIX knowledge competition also take place during the festival.

FIZMIX Knowledge Competition
The knowledge competition for pupils of grades 8 and 9 promotes interest in physics, exact sciences and energy in an engaging way. It helps pupils connect theoretical knowledge with practice, explore environmentally friendly energy solutions and develop an understanding of the energy sector, inspiring them to choose future professions in STEM fields.

Upgrading Physics Classrooms in Schools
To give young people the opportunity to study the exact sciences in a modern environment, Elektrum, in cooperation with "Iespējamā misija” (Mission Possible) foundation, supports the upgrading of physics classrooms in Latvian schools, helping to provide the equipment needed for a high-quality learning process.

Elektrum STEAM Day
Elektrum STEAM Day is an educational online event for pupils of grades 7–11 in Latvian schools. Through this initiative, we promote young people's interest in STEAM fields – science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics – by introducing them to the experience of industry professionals, innovations and future career opportunities.

Story Series "Defeat the Energy Monsters!"
Through the story series "Defeat the energy monsters!", we introduce children aged 5–9 to saving energy, the responsible use of resources and caring for the environment in a playful and child-friendly way, inspiring sustainable everyday habits from an early age.

Elektrum Energy Centre
Since 1997, Elektrum Energy Centre has been a centre of knowledge and experience where energy sector becomes comprehensible to everyone. Through free classes for pupils, lectures, seminars and public education initiatives, we help people better understand energy generation, sustainability and the responsible use of resources, promoting useful knowledge both in everyday life and in the future.

Energy Heritage
Energy heritage is an important part of Latvia’s history, and we are committed to preserving it for future generations. That is why we are developing the Elektrum Energy Museum and the UNESCO digital exhibition, making the story of the energy sector accessible to everyone.
Elektrum Energy Museum
Elektrum Energy Museum in Ķegums is the only energy museum in Latvia, where history, technology and a vision of the future come together. The museum houses more than 30,000 exhibits, including Eduards Kraucs’ collection of photographic negatives, included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Programme. Through exhibitions and educational activities, we preserve the heritage of the energy sector and inspire people to explore the industry’s development and future opportunities.

UNESCO heritage – the Ķegums Hydroelectric Power Plant in Eduards Kraucs' Photos
The digital exhibition offers an insight into one of the most significant stories in the history of Latvia's energy sector. It features Eduards Kraucs' collection of photographic negatives, which is included in the Latvian National Register of the UNESCO Memory of the World and documents the construction of the Ķegums Hydroelectric Power Plant thus preserving unique evidence of Latvian industrial heritage for future generations.

Environmental Protection and Biodiversity
As we expand renewable energy, we are equally committed to protecting nature and biodiversity. We implement river restoration and fish stock replenishment initiatives, participate in the LIFE RiverFlow project, introduce bird and bat protection measures, manage solar park sites in an environmentally responsible way, and contribute to environmental remediation projects.
River Clean-Up Projects in the Daugava River Basin
We care for the river and its surrounding environment is our responsibility as well, since the Daugava River is an integral part of the Elektrum story and of renewable energy generation. We implement river clean-up projects in the Daugava River basin that help preserve aquatic ecosystems, promote biodiversity and strengthen public awareness of the importance of conserving natural resources. We believe that sustainable energy production begins with care for the environment and investment in future generations.

Installation of Artificial Fish Spawning Nests and Release of Fish Fries into the Daugava River
Our care for the river biodiversity is an integral part of our sustainability approach as Elektrum's history is closely linked to the Daugava River. To reduce the impact of hydropower production on aquatic ecosystems, each year we place artificial fish spawning nests and support the replenishment of fish stocks in the Daugava River and its reservoirs. Over more than 15 years, more than 5,000 spawning nests have been placed, and each year we invest more than one million euros in replenishing fish stocks.

Solar Grazing
We manage Elektrum solar parks in an environmentally friendly way, combining renewable energy production with sustainable land management. In cooperation with Bitāni Farm, sheep graze the grass at the Birži Solar Park, ensuring natural maintenance of the area while enjoying a safe and suitable environment. This initiative shows that sustainable solutions can benefit both nature and people.

LIFE RiverFlow Project
Elektrum is a partner in the European Union's LIFE RiverFlow project, which aims to improve the ecological status of Latvian rivers and restore their natural flow. Together with state institutions, scientific organisations and other partners, we implement solutions that promote the restoration of aquatic ecosystems, improve migration opportunities for migratory fish and foster the sustainable development of hydropower.

Pollution Remediation Measures
Protecting the Daugava River is our responsibility as well, therefore Elektrum is involved in the remediation project for a historically contaminated site in Aizkraukle, implemented under the supervision of the State Environmental Service. Together with partners, we are working to prevent petroleum products from entering the Daugava River and to help preserve a cleaner environment for future generations.

Bird Protection Measures and Innovation Projects
We believe that the development of renewable energy and care for nature can coexist. That is why, in wind parks, we cooperate with certified ornithologists, implement bird protection systems and develop innovative solutions for bird monitoring and reducing collision risks. At the same time, we support scientific research into the conservation of protected bird species, thereby promoting sustainable energy production.

Bat protection measures and innovation projects
We are proud to be part of the solutions that help to protect bat populations. Together with our partners, we are implementing protection measures based on expert recommendations and developing the Chiroptera STOP project to promote a balance between nature conservation and the development of renewable energy through innovative technologies.
