Laflora Energy wind farm

A wind farm for the benefit of Latvia

Wind turbines and solar park

A place where the synergy between national companies – Laflora and Latvenergo – results in a green future for Latvia. From a place where peat was once extracted for horticultural needs and thermal energy generation, it has become an example of sustainable energy production – a combination of green energy, rational management, as well as work and environmental responsibility.

Where is Latvia’s largest wind farm being built?

The largest wind park in Latvia is being built in the very heart of Zemgale region, the former peat extraction area of Laflora Kaigi Bog.

It will be transformed into:

  • Wind park with 16 of the most advanced Nordex wind turbines in the Baltic states
  • 108.8 MW installed capacity
  • In the future – Latvia’s first green industrial zone

Construction of the Wind Farm

As peat extraction in Laflora Kaigi Bog has come to an end, the idea of a wind farm provided the site with a second lease of life. After the planning and design work was completed, in autumn 2024, Latvenergo became the owner of the Laflora Energy wind farm to promote green energy production in Latvia.

Construction progress:

  • The foundations of the turbines have been built, and the foundation stone of the wind farm is being laid.
  • The tower structures will be transported in the summer.
  • In autumn, the blades will be transported and the “topping out” will be celebrated to mark the erection of the first turbine.
  • Next spring, the first turbines will start generating electricity.
  •  All 16 turbines at Laflora Energy Wind Farm will be operational in the summer.
