  • When cooking or boiling water in an electric kettle, only pour in as much water as you need. Do not fill it up; this will save both water and electricity.
  • Wash vegetables and fruit in a closed sink or a bowl without the use of running water. Furthermore, what is left afterwards can be used to water your houseplants.
  • Consider buying a dishwasher if you don’t already have one in your household. A dishwasher uses low-temperature water, consuming much less (6–12 l) water in contrast to washing your dishes by hand (50 l); the dishes are steamed at the end of the cycle, thus reducing the energy needed to heat the water and leaving more time to dedicate to yourself and your family.
