  3. Select tab “Contract Settings and Contact Information”;
  4. Check that you have updated the contact information for all contracts.

You can terminate your contract on the portal, by filling out an application. We will terminate the contract on the date you specify, but no earlier than after 5 working days.

You can combine several properties under one contract yourself in the portal section My Contracts by clicking the button “Add Electricity Supply Point”/ “Add Natural Gas Supply Point” in the selected contract, or by contacting our customer service.

After logging in to the elektrum.lv portal, you can switch between contracts using the menu at the top of the page.

To terminate a contract:

  1. Log in to the portal using your online banking credentials, Smart-ID or an eID card;
  2. Under section “Communication and Applications”, select “Applications”;
  3. Click “New Application” and fill out the application Contract termination or a reduction in the number of properties.

We will terminate the contract on the date you specify, but no earlier than after 5 working days.

The current price at the time of addition will apply to the new property. The price will not change for properties already included in the contract.

You will be charged a contract termination fee if your contract has been concluded for a fixed term and you terminate it before the end of that term.

You can view the contract term and termination fee in the contract printout. The contract printout is available under section My Contracts, by clicking “Download Contract”. You can view the initial termination fee in the contract.

The contract termination fee decreases every 3 months. For example, for a 24-month contract with a termination fee of EUR 40, it decreases by EUR 5 every three months.

You will be charged a contract termination fee if your contract has been concluded for a fixed term and you terminate it before the end of that term.

You can view the initial termination fee in the contract printout. It is available under section My Contracts, by clicking “Download Contract”.

The contract termination fee decreases every three months.

Example:

The contract term is 24 months, and the initial termination fee is EUR 40.

  • 24 months are divided into eight 3-month periods: 24 ÷ 3 = 8;
  • EUR 40 is divided by the number of periods: 40 ÷ 8 = 5
  • The termination fee decreases by EUR 5 every three months.

When terminating the contract:

  • in the first three months, the termination fee is EUR 40;
  • after 3 to 6 months, the termination fee is EUR 35;
  • after 6 to 9 months, the termination fee is EUR 30;
  • after 9 to 12 months, the termination fee is EUR 25;
  • after 12 to 15 months, the termination fee is EUR 20;
  • after 15 to 18 months, the termination fee is EUR 15;
  • after 18 to 21 months, the termination fee is EUR 10;
  • after 21 to 24 months, the termination fee is EUR 5;
  • after 24 months, the termination fee no longer has to be paid.

For example, if you terminate the contract after 12 months, the termination fee will be EUR 20.

An early contract termination fee is included in contracts concluded for a fixed term, for example 12 or 24 months.

The fee must be paid if you terminate the contract before the end of that term. For example, if you terminate a 24-month contract after 12 months.

This fee does not apply to open-ended contracts.

An early product change fee applies if you change the product before the end of the contract term.

For example, the contract has been concluded for 24 months. You change the product after 12 months. In such a case, a one-off early product change fee applies.

You can view the amount of the fee in the price list for additional services.

The contract start date depends on the following factors:

  1. Are you changing your electricity trader?
  2. Are you concluding a contract for a new property?

Change of trader

The contract start date depends on the day on which you apply for a change of trader:

  1. A contract applied for from the 1st to the 9th day (inclusive) of the month will come into force on the 1st day of the following month;
  2. A contract applied for from the 10th day of the month to the last day of the month will come into force on the 1st day of the month after next.

Examples

  1. If you apply for a change of trader on 1 January, the new contract will come into force on 1 February;
  2. If you apply for a change of trader on 10 January, the new contract will come into force on 1 March;

Contract for a new property

The contract start date can be:

  1. today’s date; or
  2. any other date that is no later than the 5th day of the following month.

For example, on 10 January you can conclude a contract with a start date from 10 January to 5 February.

To conclude a contract, you need to know:

  1. the exact address of the property;
  2. the meter number;
  3. the meter reading from which you wish to start the contract.

The opening reading for the electricity contract is assessed by AS Sadales tīkls, while the opening reading for the natural gas contract is assessed by AS Gaso.

For more information, see:

  1. Where on the electricity meter is the meter number indicated?
  2. Where on the natural gas meter is the meter number indicated?

You can view the contract term and the initial early termination fee in the contract printout. It is available under section “My Contracts”, by clicking “Download Contract”.

An early termination fee applies only to fixed-term contracts and decreases every three months. For example, for a 24-month contract with a fee of EUR 40, it decreases by EUR 5 every three months.

Yes. In this case, the family member must enter into a new contract for your address in their own name.

There is no need to terminate the existing contract separately. As soon as the family member enters into the new contract, the electricity billing for the address will automatically be transferred to their name.

The new contract can be entered into here by logging in with one of the following secure authentication methods:

  • a qualified Smart-ID account;

  • an eParaksts card or eParaksts mobile;

  • online banking – Swedbank, SEB, Luminor or Citadele.

There are several options:

  1. Your relative can enter into a new contract for the address in their own name.

  2. You can add your relative’s email address to your contract, and we will send all contract-related information to that address.

  3. Your relative can pay your Elektrum invoice on your behalf without logging in to the portal. To do so, they must enter your contract number and make the payment here.

  4. You can grant your relative access to your contract in the Elektrum portal. In this case, your relative must have access to one of the following secure authentication methods:

  • a qualified Smart-ID account;

  • an eParaksts card or eParaksts mobile;

  • online banking – Swedbank, SEB, Luminor or Citadele.

You can view your bill on the portal, under section My Payments. We send the information required to make the payment by email, including the payment amount, due date and bill number.

Please check the following:

  1. Has the email ended up in the promotions or subscriptions folder?
  2. Is the correct email address and delivery channel specified under section “My Contracts”, tab “Contract Settings and Contact Information”?

We send the equalised payment amount once a year after the annual recalculation. You can sign up for a monthly reminder of the amount due under section “My Contracts”, tab “Contract Settings and Contact Information”.

The monthly fee is part of the electricity product price. For some of our products, the charge for electricity consists of a monthly fee and a fee for the electricity consumed, which is calculated according to the number of kilowatt-hours (kWh) consumed.

This pricing model makes it possible to reduce the total cost per kWh as electricity consumption increases.

We calculate the billed amount according to average consumption if consumption data have not been read at the end of the month. This most often happens if the fuses at the property are switched off.

AS Sadales tīkls calculates average consumption based on your consumption data from the previous 12 months. This may differ from actual consumption. In this case, there will be an asterisk next to the meter number on your bill.

We automatically include the payment reduction on the bill if the electricity contract is in your name and you fall into one of the protected user categories.

We receive information each month from the State Construction Control Bureau on the granting or termination of support.

More information is available in the section For Protected Users.

Please check the following:

  1. Is the correct telephone number specified under section “My Contracts”, tab “Contract Settings and Contact Information”? (see attached image)
  2. Is receipt of the bill or reminder by SMS enabled? (see attached image)
  3. Is your phone’s memory full, especially on phones with buttons?
  4. Has the SMS we sent been marked as unwanted or spam in the message settings?
  5. Can you receive incoming calls and SMS messages?

If all settings are correct, please try switching your phone off and on again. If you still do not receive SMS messages, please contact your mobile network operator.

Household customers can pay for the energy consumed during the previous month by the last date of the current month.

Creation of a pa available if:

  1. there is at least one unpaid invoice under the contract
  2. you have logged in to the Elektrum.lv portal by using one of the following methods: Smart ID, e-signature, internet banking service.

Setting up a payment plan is a fee-based service. You can find out the fee when you apply because the fee depends on the total outstanding amount and the number of instalments that you plan to split the payment into.

  1. Log in to the elektrum.lv portal.
  2. Under section My Bills and Payments make sure that you have an overpayment.
  3. Under section Communication and Applications fill out the application Reallocation or Refund of Money.

You can fill out the application if you log in to the Elektrum.lv portal using Smart-ID, an e-signature or your online banking credentials.

An equalised payment means that you pay the same pre-calculated amount every month. The bill, however, shows your actual costs for that particular month.

The bill allows you to monitor whether the equalised payment amount corresponds to your actual consumption and costs. You can view your bills in the Elektrum.lv portal, but the payment must be made in accordance with the equalised payment amount.

At the end of the billing period, we compare the payments made with the bills issued and calculate the new equalised payment amount.

Balanced Payment is a payment option which each month allows you to pay an equal, already known amount for the received services based on the estimated average monthly consumption of electricity or natural gas.

In order to compare your payments to your actual consumption, we will make a yearly adjustment and send you a new Balanced Payment amount. Read more about this payment option here.

The equalised payment is recalculated at least once a year. During the recalculation, we compare the payments you have made with the actual costs. We include the resulting difference in the payments for the next 12 months.

We may also carry out a recalculation in the event of significant price changes, if you have agreed to this.

You can view and change the recalculation frequency and the date of the next recalculation under section My Contracts, tab “Contract Settings and Contact Information”.

The equalised payment amount remains unchanged, but the actual costs may vary from month to month. These are affected by consumption, the price of electricity or natural gas, system service tariffs, and applicable support.

Therefore, the equalised payment must be recalculated regularly in order to compare the payments you have made with the actual costs and, if necessary, adjust the monthly amount.

See a detailed explanation of the recalculation of equalized payments in the recalculation guide!

We receive electricity consumption data from AS Sadales tīkls and natural gas consumption data from AS GASO.

We obtain the meter reading in one of the following ways:

  • You submit the meter reading;
  • The smart meter is read remotely;
  • AS Sadales tīkls or AS GASO takes the reading during an inspection visit;
  • AS Sadales tīkls or AS GASO calculates average consumption if an exact reading is not available.

More detailed information is available in the section on submitting meter readings.

The new equalised payment amount consists of two parts:

  • Costs forecasted for the next 12 months. These are calculated based on forecasted consumption, the service price and system service tariffs;
  • The difference from the previous period. We calculate this by comparing the billed amounts with the payments you have made.

We spread the resulting difference across the payments for the next 12 months.

Please regularly compare actual consumption with forecasted consumption. You can do this by:

In the event of significant changes in consumption, please change the equalised payment amount in good time.

You can change the forecasted consumption at any time:

Your equalised payment amount may increase if:

  • your average electricity or natural gas consumption has increased;
  • you did not make all payments in the previous period;
  • actual consumption was higher than forecasted, so an unpaid difference has arisen;
  • the price of electricity or natural gas, system service tariffs, or other costs have changed.

We include the unpaid amount or difference from the previous period in the payments for the new period.

Most likely, you consumed less energy in the previous period than had been forecasted, so an overpayment arose.

We include the resulting difference, including any overpayment, in the new equalised payment amount and spread it over the next 12 months.

Regularly monitor your equalised payment status on the portal, to make sure that the forecasted consumption is still appropriate.

A difference arises if the actual costs are higher than the equalised payment amount, for example due to higher consumption or price changes.

An overpayment arises if you have paid more than the set equalised payment amount.

Therefore, an overpayment and a difference can exist at the same time.

No. Each month, we calculate the actual costs based on consumption at that time and the prices in force.

During the recalculation, we compare the total billed amount with the payments you have made. Therefore, at the end of the period, you pay the amount calculated according to the actual prices.

Yes, you can choose the equalised payment or a bill at any time. You can do this on the portal under section My Contracts, tab “Contract Settings and Contact Information”.

After changing the settlement method, you first bill will include the final calculation of the equalised payment. It will indicate the difference between the payments made and the actual costs.

We calculate the equalised payment amount based on forecasted consumption. A difference arises if the actual costs differ from the forecasted costs, for example:

  • You consume more or less energy;
  • The energy price, system service tariffs, or the applicable support change.

We take the difference into account in the next recalculation.

We calculate the equalised payment amount based on forecasted consumption and prices. Actual consumption and costs may differ, so a difference may arise over time.

During the term of the contract, we usually spread this difference over the following payments. In the event of terminating the contract, we include the entire outstanding difference in your final bill, so the final billed amount may be higher.

We calculate the equalised payment amount based on previous consumption or the consumption forecast indicated by you.

A large difference may arise if:

  • Your consumption changes, for example, if you start using electric heating or a new high-powered appliance;
  • You do not regularly submit natural gas meter readings, so we calculate consumption based on previous data;
  • The forecasted consumption indicated for a new customer differs from the actual consumption.

Yes, you can pay the difference in a single payment by contacting our customer service.

The Equalised payment barometer is a tool that shows whether your payment amount corresponds to your actual electricity consumption.

The Equalised payment barometer determines your actual average electricity consumption and compares it with the estimated consumption included in your Equalised Payment amount.

The Barometer receives smart meter readings automatically. If you have a standard meter, you need to enter the reading yourself.

The Barometer shows whether your Equalised Payment amount is appropriate and recommends changing it if necessary.

The Equalised payment barometer can display three different results:

Green. Your current Equalised Payment corresponds to your average consumption. You do not need to take any action.

Yellow. Your current Equalised Payment partially corresponds to your average electricity consumption. A small difference will arise during recalculation. To avoid this, the Barometer will recommend changing your Equalised Payment amount, which you will be able to approve.

Red. Your current Equalised Payment does not correspond to your average electricity consumption, so we recommend recalculating it. If you approve the recalculation, we will send you a new Equalised Payment amount.

You can correct the reading and perform the calculation again. If the result is red, select “I want to change the meter reading”.

The incorrect reading will not affect your equalised payment until you select “Change the amount” or “Use the reading and recalculate”.

We recommend checking your Equalised Payment once every three months.

After recalculating your Equalised Payment, wait at least three months before checking it again to ensure more accurate data.

Yes. The Barometer receives smart meter data automatically, so you do not need to enter the reading yourself.

You can correct the reading in the “Meter readings” section from the 27th day of the month until the 3rd day of the following month. Then return to the Barometer, where the corrected reading will be displayed.

The Barometer is grey if the actual or estimated consumption is 0 kWh. In this case, the calculation cannot be performed.

Change the Equalised Payment amount and enter 1 kWh as the actual consumption. The Barometer will then be able to assess whether the payment corresponds to your consumption. The entered value of 1 kWh will not affect the result.

We recommend entering meter readings for all properties included in the contract to ensure that the Barometer calculations are as accurate as possible.

Yes. Enter the meter reading in the equalised payment barometer and select “Use the readings and recalculate”.

A reading submitted in another way will not activate the recalculation immediately.

The net settlement system is intended for electricity producers. The value of the electricity fed into the grid is accounted for in monetary terms, which can also be used to settle payments for electricity consumption at other properties.

All properties must be serviced by the same electricity trader and the same distribution system operator. A contract on the use of the net settlement system is also required.

More information is available here.

The net accounting system is a settlement method for electricity producers. In this system, the electricity fed into the grid is accounted for in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

In the net accounting system:

  • The accumulated balance can only be used at the property where the electricity was generated;
  • The accumulated balance is accumulated from 1 March until the end of February of the following year;
  • Any unused accumulated balance is cancelled at the end of the net year;
  • A distribution fee must be paid for the use of electricity previously fed into the grid.

New producers can no longer apply for this system. Existing users may use it until 28 February 2029.

With the net payment system, the electricity generated at one site of the client can be used at other sites of the same client

The net payment system can be used by households and businesses.

Households and businesses that generate electricity for self-consumption can join the net settlement system.

The following conditions must be met:

  • Electricity is generated from renewable energy sources, such as solar or wind;
  • The generation capacity at one property does not exceed 999.99 kW;
  • The generation equipment is connected to the public electricity grid;
  • All properties have the same distribution system operator;
  • The electricity consumption and generation contracts are concluded with the same trader.

More information is available here.

No, to use the net settlement system, you do not need to register as an economic operator.

No. You may continue to use the net accounting system until 28 February 2029.

The net settlement system must be chosen:

  • For a new property where you have started generating electricity;
  • After a change of property user, if the contract is concluded by another person.

No. Both agreements must be concluded with the same trader.

Yes. In the net settlement system, the value of the electricity fed into the grid is accumulated in monetary terms. You may use this money to settle payments for electricity at your other properties if:

  • You have a contract on the use of the net settlement system;
  • All properties are included in one electricity contract;
  • All properties have the same distribution system operator.

No. Only those properties where you wish to use the money received for electricity fed into the grid need to be included in one electricity contract.

All properties don’t need to be combined into one contract if you use the accumulated money only at the property where the electricity was generated.

No. Both agreements must be concluded with the same trader.

The accumulated amount may not be sufficient to pay the full bill.

It is used for:

  • Payment for electricity;
  • Distribution and transmission charges;
  • Other electricity contract costs, including VAT.

The accumulated money cannot be used to pay for natural gas, insurance or other services.

No. After switching to the net settlement system, you will no longer be able to return to the net accounting system.

All properties must be included in one electricity contract and in the net settlement system. You will then receive one combined bill for the electricity consumed at these properties.

Find out more about the net settlement system here.

No. The accumulated money can only be used at the properties of one customer. All properties must be included in a single customer’s electricity contract and in their net settlement system contract. All properties must also have the same distribution system operator.

That depends on the net system used.

  1. In the net accounting system, the accumulated balance will be transferred to the new trader.
  2. In the net settlement system, the accumulated money will cover the final bill. We will transfer the remaining amount to your bank account.

No, if you use the accumulated money to pay your electricity bills.

Personal income tax is withheld if you terminate all contracts and the unused accumulated balance is transferred to your bank account.

The price depends on the selected product.

In the case of Elektrum Neto Universālais, the Nord Pool exchange price for the specific hour is used. A contractually specified amount is deducted from this for each kWh.

For example, if the exchange price is EUR 0.060/kWh and the reduction is EUR 0.020/kWh, the electricity supplied is calculated at EUR 0.040/kWh.

In the case of Elektrum Neto, a fixed price is applied for each kWh supplied.

The accumulated electricity will be cancelled without compensation.

The accumulated money is used for:

  • Payment for electricity;
  • Distribution and transmission charges;
  • Other electricity contract costs, including VAT.

The accumulated money cannot be used to pay for natural gas, insurance or other services unrelated to electricity.

Unused electricity supplied to the grid will be transferred to AS Sadales tīkls without compensation. You will not be able to use its value later to pay your bills.

Find out more about the net settlement system here.

Yes. The accumulated money is also used to cover distribution charges at all properties included in the net settlement system contract.

You can use the accumulated money only to pay for electricity. To make changes, please contact our customer service.

You can view the accumulated balance on your monthly electricity bill.

Please contact our customer service.

We offer two payment options:

  • an invoice showing the amount due for the previous month’s actual consumption;
